Application:

waterstop is used to obstruct the passage of water through concrete joints and construction joints.

Description

In general classification, PVC waterstop is divided into two groups:

 

  • Flat PVC waterstopFlat PVC waterstop

 

  • PVC waterstop with center bulb

PVC waterstop with centerbulb

Flat waterstop is used in construction joints while waterstop with center bulb is used in expansion joints. They are both used in walls or below floor slabs.

Different types of PVC waterstop:

1.Ribbed with center bulb:

Ideal for expansion and contraction joints. The center bulb will absorb the shear movements. The bigger the center bulbs are, the greater movements the waterstop will accommodate.

2.Flat Waterstop:

Ideal for construction joints with little or no movements.

The ribs effectively enhance the bond strength between waterstops and surrounding concrete; meanwhile, it also improves water sealing capacity of waterstops.

3.Base seal waterstop:

Ideal for slab-on construction joints.

4.Base seal with tear web:

Ideal for slab-on expansion joints.

How to install PVC waterstop:

One method of connecting waterstops to each other is overlapping. In addition to it, a waterstop welding device is used to connect the waterstops to each other.

  • Position waterstop in the place where the concrete joint is expected to be.
  • The location and embedment of the waterstop should be determined by the use of construction drawings of the project. Approximately half of the width of the waterstop embedded in the concrete on each side of the joint.

The same procedure is used for installing a ribbed waterstop with center bulb. The only difference is that the bulb must be located exactly at the predicted location of the expansion joint.

An especial type of clamp is designed to connect and fix waterstops. Each meter of waterstop length requires seven clamps to connect to the armature. Four clamps at the top and three clamps at the bottom.
