What is T-Grip pipe?
T-Grip pipe is a polyethylene pipe which is T-shaped on the outer surface and the inner surface of them is smoothed.
The inner surface of T-Grip pipe is smoothed and polished, so that the fluid can easily move through it.
The outer surface of T-Grip pipe is T-shaped which causes the pipe’s high mechanical strength.
The existence of T-shapes on the outer surface of the pipe enables the pipe to control any external load or pressure. It has also high tolerance against traffic loads.
These pipes are made of high density polyethylene (HDPE) which are used to transfer acidic, alkaline fluids, sewage effluents and industrial wastewater.
Due to existence of T-shapes on the outer surface, these pipes have high strength and external pressure tolerance. They are resistance to any surface and subsurface pressure and any live or dead loads.
T-Grip pipe is produced in the following size and specifications:
Based on the load bearing capacity and pressure tolerance, T-Grip pipes are divided into different groups.
Advantages of T-Grip pipe:
1.one major advantage of them is their light weight.
2.easy installation and transportation.
3.chemical resistance
4.no growth of bacteria or other microorganisms on the wall of the pipe.
5.corrosion resistant
6.impact resistant
7.decay resistant and resistance to pressures caused by earthquake.
8.high flexibility and high flow efficiency (due to low roughness)
9.UV resistant due to the use of anti-UV materials in production process.
10.temperature resistant. It can be used in severe heat and cold conditions.
Applications of T-Grip pipe:
The design of T-Grip pipes results in their high resistance and makes them useful for these applications:
1.marine ponds
2.canals
3.buried under the ground
4.municipal, industrial wastewater collection and disposal.
5.agricultural use
6.drainage
7.cabling
what is the difference between corrugated pipe and T-Grip pipe?
They are both made of polyethylene and the inner surface of them is smoothed, but they have some differences.
Corrugated pipes have congresses on the outer surface but T-Grip pipes are T-shaped on the outer surface.
The main difference of them is that T-Grip pipes are single-walled polyethylene while the corrugated pipes are double-walled polyethylene.
Types of connection and installation of T-Grip pipe:
Butt welding
Butt welding is also called thermal connection.
In this method, the two ends of the pipe are simultaneously heated to 210 °C before connection, then they get connected and welded via pressure and finally they get cooled.
The parameters of time and mechanical pressure on the corrugated pipe must be observed in both heating and cooling stages.
This type of connection is used for T-Grip sewer pipe with the same outer diameter and similar wall thickness.
Electrofusion welding
This method is similar to butt welding. The only difference is how the heat is applied.
The heat is applied by a coil.
In this method, the ends of the pipes place at the beginning of each other. The electrofusion plate is wrapped around the corrugated pipe, then by applying electricity to the heat resistance coils, the coil heats up and melts the surrounding plastics, creating a proper weld between the T-Grip pipes.
It should be noted that the surface of the T-Grip pipe must be checked out. There must be no scratches on it.
Extrusion welding
In this method, the ends of the two pipes are heated by a heat gun, then the molten polyethylene is injected between the two ends by a manual extruder. The material is in the form of wire and is formed via a spatula.
In this method, the welder’s skill and accuracy is very important. This method is mostly used in places where are more sensitive.
Extrusion welding is the best way to connect T-Grip pipes which provide great sealing and mechanical strength.
But this method requires more time than other methods and can’t be applied for sizes more than 800.
Connection by coupling washer
The advantage of this method over other methods is its easy and fast installation.
Some factories manufacture T-Grip pipes in 6-meters length which are sealed by washer or gaskets.
Using this pipe is the most logical and appropriate way to overcome the problem in urban, marine, and agricultural sewage networks.
Today, these pipes are a great alternative to other pipes in most water and sewage transmission systems.
T-Grip pipes are also used in cabling due to their reasonable price and excellent resistance to external forces. In addition, T-Grip pipe is a stable, reliable, cost-effective and safe solution for long-term drainage needs.
